The Region is asking for more continuous flights in view of the upcoming Easter holidays. With Aeroitalia, returning to Sardinia from Milan is already a feat: from Linate to Olbia there are no seats on April 17, 18 and 19 , all that remains is to take a flight on the 16 or 20, Easter Sunday. From Linate to Cagliari, on the other hand, all seats are sold out on the 17 and 18 , on the 19 there are still some seats. The situation is better for connections from Fiumicino. In short, the usual ordeal for students and workers living away from home.
On April 3, the regional transport department reported, "we communicated to the airlines critical situations and a daily offer close to saturation on several dates, sending an initial request for an increase in the offer , which will be followed in these hours by a specific formal request".
"We are working to protect the right to mobility of the Sardinians", explains the councilor Barbara Manca , "we moved promptly by reporting with precision the critical issues found on the routes in continuity and asking for the activation of additional flights. Now we await feedback from the companies, certain of their collaboration to guarantee an efficient and accessible service for all ".
The carriers, the department underlines, are required, as prescribed by the ministerial decree, to insert additional flights when the limit of 91% daily occupancy is reached .
"Booking data, monitoring and requests for adjustments to the offer, these are the tools at our disposal at the moment that have allowed us, for example, to overcome the Christmas holidays in a much better way than in previous years", underlines Manca, "but we are already working to further improve the legislation: in the next decree we intend to propose a lower critical filling threshold, equal to 80%, and with greater advance notice than what currently happens ".
We will also propose, concludes the councilor, "to go beyond the evaluation by daily time slot, introducing a system that analyzes the data by time slots - morning, afternoon and evening - so as to capture with greater precision the real difficulties of the users."
