To ensure greater road safety and save more lives, especially among the youngest, a synergy between all the actors involved in urban mobility is necessary. For this reason, Aci Cagliari and Ctm are promoting an awareness campaign entitled “Drive safely, it's party time”, which leads to more aware mobility.

"During the holidays, many people move and consequently, accidents also increase," explains Antonello Fiori, president of the Automobile Club Cagliari. "This initiative is part of the campaign on road safety of the Automobile Club d'Italia. We want to create attention precisely on those small distractions that can make the difference ."

Fiori then makes an invitation: «Cars have all the cutting-edge protocols, but there must be a high level of responsibility when driving. A car at 100 km/h travels 30 meters per second: we must never forget what we are using ».

The numbers. «In Italy there were 3,100 fatal accidents in 2022, while in 2023 there was a decrease. Unfortunately, in Sardinia we are suffering from an increase in fatal road accidents. The first cause of death among under-25s are road accidents ».

"In the aftermath of the tragedy on Viale Marconi, in which four young people lost their lives, I asked myself what we could do as a public body," commented the president of the CTM, Carlo Arba. "This is why about thirty vehicles, for a month, will have posters that read: "Safety is a thin line... do not cross it." It is a strong message, but the issue of safety is fundamental and must touch everyone's conscience, to save even just one life . I speak not only as the president of the CTM, but also as a parent: our children have the right to have fun and socialize. As CTM we have the duty to accompany them even to places of entertainment in total safety."

Arba then recalls the measures adopted by the company to mitigate petty crime during the night: «The security guard and video surveillance systems inside the vehicle, as well as the dashcams outside the buses. This is to give the possibility, even to a single boy who cannot afford a private vehicle or a taxi, to be able to go and return from the nightlife places in safety. With our 4 night lines, whose service starts at midnight and ends at 5 in the morning, we have transported an average of 1000 boys every Saturday : it means that it is a very appreciated service».
