The community of Ittiri , the center of Coros, mourns the death, at the age of 89, of kd on Ignazio Carassino . Born on April 16, 1934, he lived in a family where the values of faith were very strong.

This is how the municipality of Ittiri wanted to remember him in a message published on the institutional Facebook page: «In addition to being a great scholar, he was a good man who, throughout his life, never forgot others , helping in his possibilities and giving a smile and a hug to all the people who were in difficulty or suffering. Don Ignazio was known by many elderly and young people, whom he called confidentially by the name of 'Innatziu.' Everyone knew him as the ''special'' priest, with a passion for the Sardinian language, Logudorese to be precise, and for rhyming. A language which the priest used for his pastoral mission, and which he wanted to use for his work ''E contamus in Limba'', a collection of 20 parables and a comedy, in two acts, on the birth of Jesus".

«Don Carassino - continues the municipality - has always represented a great cultural resource for Ittiri and Logudoro with particular reference to the Sardinian language . At the behest of the municipal administration, he was part of the commission that evaluated the authors of the ''Limba and Ammentos'' literary competition which, every year, rewards the best poets and writers in ''limba.'' The teachings of Ignazio Carassino will certainly remain in the hearts of all those who had the honor of knowing him and will guide their lives on a path of personal growth and truth in such a way that his memory remains alive in each of us."

The funeral will be celebrated tomorrow at 11am by the bishop, Monsignor Gian Franco Saba.
