The man accused of unintentional homicide for having killed 60-year-old Roberto Delrio with his fist, at the height of a dispute that arose over a lack of right of way in Alghero , has bargained for a three-year sentence, converted into public utility work. The episode dates back to June last year.

Roberto Di Seri, 43, was assisted by lawyers Luca Sciaccaluga and Alessandra Delia. The sentence was pronounced this morning by the gup of the Court of Sassari Gianpaolo Piana.

On the day of the tragedy, Delrio was traveling by car with his son and at the crossroads between via Barraccu and via XX Settembre he had passed the stop sign, risking hitting De Seri who was passing by on his motorbike. Insults had flown between the two and a few minutes later both had found themselves by chance in front of a nearby bar. There a new quarrel came to physical confrontation. Delrio, hit by a punch in the face, had collapsed to the ground hitting his head on the sidewalk. The motorcyclist, together with other people who had witnessed the quarrel, had tried to rescue him but the 60-year-old had immediately lost consciousness. Admitted to intensive care, he died after seven days in a coma . Delrio's family, represented by the lawyer Stefano Carboni, will go ahead with a civil suit and with the request for compensation of 2 million euros.
