The appeal process in the "Darsena Servizi" case, the stretch of water that rises in the site of national interest in Porto Torres, ended with the confirmation of the sentence pronounced in the first instance in 2016 by the judge of the Court of Sassari against the former Syndial executives.

On the dock were the three former managers of Eni's subsidiary, Francesco Capace, Oscar Cappellazzo and Gian Antonio Saggese. The Court of Appeal of Sassari, chaired by Plinia Azzena and on the side by the judges Maria Grixoni and Marina Capita, confirmed the first degree sentence which sentenced the former managers of the company to one year in prison for the crimes of negligent environmental disaster and disfigurement of natural beauty. The sentence to pay the court costs incurred in the first and second instance by the civil parties has also been confirmed.

The reasons for the sentence will be filed on March 14, 2022, since then the defense lawyers, lawyers Piero Arru, Luigi Stella, Fulvio Simoni, Mario Maspero and Grazia Volo, will have 45 days to evaluate any appeal.

In 2016, the conviction concerns the pollution of the so-called Darsena Veleni, in the industrial port of Porto Torres where, according to the accusation, unspecified quantities of dangerous substances ended up in the sea of the Gulf of Asinara. The lawyer of the civil parties Pina Zappetto had filed new documentation, following the sentence challenged by the defense board of Syndial executives. These are technical investigations carried out between 2018 and 2020 conducted by Arpas, Ispra, the Province of Sassari and the Municipality of Porto Torres, represented by the lawyer Antonello Urru, who according to the accusation confirm the responsibility of Syndial in the pollution of the site, a area undergoing reclamation.
