Life imprisonment confirmed on appeal for Davide Iannelli, 55, from Campania, convicted of the brutal murder of his neighbor and rival , Tony Cozzolino, committed in March 2022 in Olbia.
The Sassari Court of Appeal accepted the requests of the Attorney General and the civil parties (Giampaolo Murrighile, Antonio Fois, and Massimo Perra).
Tony Cozzolino was doused with gasoline, and then Iannelli set the fire, causing fatal burns to the victim (Cozzolino died in the hospital after several days of agony). The judges ruled out self-defense and upheld the aggravating circumstance of cruelty.
According to the Tempio prosecutors' reconstruction, Iannelli walked away and watched the victim engulfed in flames without doing anything. An appeal to the Supreme Court by the defense, Cristina and Abele Cherchi, is not ruled out.
Iannelli is the husband of Rosa Bechere, the woman who hasn't been heard from since November 25, three years ago.
