Almost a quarter of new Covid cases more in Sardinia in the week between 29 June and 5 July. This is what the Gimbe Foundation highlights, which in the usual report records an increase in currently positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants (from 1,440 to 1,959) with + 24.7% of infections compared to the previous week.

The metropolitan area of Cagliari leads the ranking of the highest incidence with 1,270 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants (+ 11.1% compared to the previous week), while the greatest increases are recorded in the Nuorese (817, + 66.1%) and in the Oristano (1,078, + 50.6%). Southern Sardinia is second in incidence with 1,143 per 100 thousand inhabitants (+ 14.5%), while in Sassari the figure is 841 (+ 34.8% compared to the previous week). The occupancy of beds in the medical area still remains below the national average (9.4%), while the beds in intensive care (5.4%) occupied by Covid-19 patients are above the national average.

VACCINES - On the vaccine front, the campaign follows a line that has now flattened out: the percentage of the population over 5 years that has not received any vaccine dose is 8% (Italy average 7.1%) to be added the population over 5 years of age temporarily protected, as it has been cured of Covid-19 for less than 180 days, equal to 3.8%.

The over 5 years who have not received the third dose are 9.7% (Italy average 11.4%) to which we must add those recovered for less than 120 days, who therefore cannot receive the third dose immediately, and who are equal to 6.2%.

The vaccination coverage rate with fourth dose for immunocompromised people is 52.6% , while for the over 80, RSA and frail guests, range 60-79, it is 8.3%.

Among children under the age of 11, 43.2% of the population completed the vaccination cycle (Italy average 34.9%) to which a further 4.4% (Italy average 3.3%) must be added only with first dose.
