The Carabinieri of the Olbia operations unit are continuing their investigation to bust a gang of robbers who have been terrorizing the Costa Smeralda for weeks, robbing tourists wearing luxury watches. Yesterday, during a search of a hotel in the town of Olbia, officers found a valuable Patek Philippe watch hidden inside a trolley left in a luggage storage room.

The watch was found to be the result of a robbery that took place on the evening of July 30th, when a foreign tourist was robbed in Cannigione , a seaside resort in Arzachena, while returning to the hotel where he was spending his vacation. The recovery of the stolen goods is the result of further investigations, conducted under the coordination of the Tempio Pausania Public Prosecutor's Office, following the arrest of three French citizens of Maghreb origin —carried out on the night of July 30th by the military operations unit—who were also held jointly responsible for another theft involving the snatching of a luxury watch committed in Porto Cervo on July 23rd.

The Carabinieri's investigations led to the location of the apartment the alleged perpetrators had rented for their stay in Sardinia, where the watch was found. The investigation is continuing to determine the arrestees' responsibility for other robberies committed in recent days , and to identify any other accomplices.
