Aeroitalia has withdrawn its appeal regarding the Sardinia Region's tender for air continuity .
“For us, the matter ends here,” said CEO Gaetano Intrieri , during a press conference on the numbers for 2025, the year in which the company sold 3 million tickets.
"We disagreed with some of the terms of the tender, but we still decided to relaunch our commitment to Sardinia because leaving it would have meant a heavy social sacrifice in terms of jobs ," said Intrieri, who, looking ahead to 2025, promised to strengthen our presence in Cagliari.
"Next year will be important. We're closing 2025 with an impressive turnover of over €300 million. We'll reinvest the profits in new aircraft and in strengthening our presence in Cagliari, including in the maintenance sector ."
The CEO also discussed domestic flights, Cagliari-Alghero and Cagliari-Olbia : "We participated in the tender for new routes with interest. In the spring, we would like to launch using the two ATRs we have in our fleet. However, we are asking for the airports' help because our goal is to offer tickets at the lowest possible price , purely for service."
The airline also announced that a new Cagliari–Cuneo route will be operational starting December 19 , with two weekly flights (Fridays and Sundays). Furthermore, starting in the 2026 summer season, Aeroitalia will reinstate the Cagliari–Catania route .
Aeroitalia participated in the latest tender for continuity , submitting bids for five of the six routes (excluding Alghero-Milan) . It is the only competing carrier on the Alghero-Rome and Cagliari-Milan routes. On the Cagliari-Rome and Olbia-Milan routes, it is competing against the ITA-Volotea consortium, and on the Olbia-Rome route, it is competing against Volotea alone. The airline has also offered to cover three of the five routes (Olbia-Rome, Olbia-Milan, and Cagliari-Rome) without compensation .
