Claudio Carru, 66, a former dockworker from Siniscola, who had been sentenced to eight years in prison for sexual assault, was found after ten days on the run by officers from the Siniscola police station . The man was located and arrested by the Carabinieri at Capo Comino , near the lighthouse, where he had taken refuge .

Carru disappeared last October 2nd , immediately after the Supreme Court of Cassation's ruling, which upheld the conviction already handed down in the first two levels of proceedings. When the military went to execute the arrest warrant, he was nowhere to be found.

The escape reportedly occurred the day after another conviction, this time in the first instance, to eight years for attempted murder and stalking, for an incident in July 2022 in which he attacked his partner's son with an axe.
