The controversy over bike lanes in Cagliari continues. City Councilor Giuseppe Farris posted a harsh statement on his Facebook page against the city administration's plan to expand the city's bike lane network.
"Narrowed roadways, eliminated parking, increasingly congested traffic, slowed buses, and penalized businesses," writes Farris, who announces the presentation of a motion in the City Council calling for the suspension of new projects until "independent studies on their actual impact" are published.
An online petition supporting the initiative has already garnered nearly 500 signatures. Farris's stance adds to the protests that have emerged in recent weeks against some of the City's planned projects, which aim to build approximately 12 kilometers of new bike lanes across over 30 city streets to connect existing sections and make the network more seamless.
