The mayor and the Municipality of Cagliari must undertake to pay "particular attention, also by becoming promoters of initiatives , towards same-parent families, regardless of where or how the children were conceived". This is foreseen by a +Europe motion passed in the hall where the majority is led by the Brothers of Italy, the party of the mayor Paolo Truzzu: the center-right however went under (even the mayor voted no) and the line of the centre-left opposition.

A political act, the one voted by Palazzo Bacaredda with 16 yes, two abstentions and 14 against, which aims to facilitate homosexual couples who adopt children.

"An act of civility, a declaration of principle that comes in the aftermath of the absurd vote of the Chamber on the wicked and insane universal crime of surrogacy", comments Riccardo Lo Monaco, regional coordinator of +Europe in Sardinia, underlining how the vote of Cagliari takes on "even more significance because it takes place in a prompt response to the party of the Prime Minister who leads the government of the city with one of her loyalists".

For Lo Monaco, the passage of the motion "demonstrates that Mayor Truzzu in these four years has never wanted to tune into the spirit of an open city that has always characterized Cagliari, even when it was governed by centre-right majorities, led however by more liberals and less retrograde parties than the Brothers of Italy».
