There was a risk of tragedy at one of Castelsardo's clubs, which was closed to prevent the same tragedy that occurred on New Year's Eve at a club in Crans-Montana, Switzerland.
Lacking fire safety documentation, following inspections by the State Police and Fire Department, the venue was closed before an event that would have attracted hundreds of young people. A joint inspection with the Territorial Labor Inspectorate was conducted to ensure compliance with the regulations and safety requirements for public entertainment venues.
Given the tragic events in Crans-Montana, prevention efforts are particularly important for protecting public safety, especially during events attended by large numbers of young people. The Administrative Police of the Sassari Police Headquarters, along with the Red Helmets of the Sassari Provincial Command, conducted a targeted check at a well-known public establishment located in the municipality of Castelsardo, where an evening of entertainment was scheduled, attracting hundreds of young people.
However, a fundamental safety requirement was missing: the required fire safety permit. Hence the decision to temporarily close the facility while the safety situation was rectified.
