After twenty years , the allegorical floats are returning to the Cagliari Carnival. This is one of the main new features of the 2026 edition of the festival, which will take place from February 6th to 22nd . In keeping with tradition, the carnival will conclude on the Sunday after Shrove Tuesday with the burning of King Cancioffali, which this year will take place at the Villaggio Pescatori di Giorgino.
"The new edition promises to be particularly rich ," Maria Francesca Chiappe , Councilor for Culture, Entertainment, and Tourism, anticipated in this morning's presentation. "In addition to the floats, there will also be a new route, which will deviate from the city center and reach Viale Sant'Avendrace and Is Mirrionis ."
The parades are scheduled for February 12th, Fat Thursday, starting from Via De Candia, then on Sunday the 15th from Via San Paolo (in front of Piazzale Trento), and on the 17th, Fat Tuesday, from Piazza del Carmine. Numerous side events are also planned, including Pirri, and the Vespiglia on Sunday the 22nd.
