Great celebration in Carbonia for the important milestone crossed by Emanuele Basciu, the grandfather of the village turned 105 yesterday.

Relatives, friends, councilor Katia Puddu and his life partner, his 96-year-old wife Esterina Ballisai, celebrated him at his home in Cannas di Sopra.

Married since 1960, Emanuele and Esterina have three children.

Emanuele, informs the Municipality of Carbonia that has dedicated a post to him on the institutional Facebook page, is a precious historical memory of the events of the town that saw the birth, growth and development.

«He is 105 years old, she is almost 96 years old: they are a couple that once again confirms how much the city of Carbonia is among the longest-lived in Sardinia - comments the mayor Pietro Morittu -. And we are really proud of this. On my behalf and on behalf of the entire municipal administration, we wish grandfather Emanuele a happy birthday».
