The studies of Carbonia history enthusiasts have reached a turning point: the Municipality has given the green light to searches for tunnels and air raid shelters from the Second World War , kilometres of underground passages that have always been a legend for many.
The group “I misteri di Carbonia” which has reached thousands of enthusiasts on this topic on social media, has managed to organize a fundraiser which has allowed a georadar and other sophisticated equipment to be brought to the city with which they will try to probe the subsoil of the city of foundation .
The first day of research provided the opportunity to enter the long air-raid shelter under one of Carbonia's historic buildings, Villa Sulcis , which had never been opened to the public.
