Mrs. Maria Vacca is the new centenarian of Carbonia . Surrounded by the affection of relatives and friends, she blew out her first 100 candles, which came after a life of work and love for her family.

Originally from Samatzai, grandmother Maria arrived in the city in 1953 and never stopped for a moment: she worked in the countryside, harvesting wheat and more, and then worked as a "babysitter" for many years. To celebrate with her the 7 children, 2 others are gone, and the dozens of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The municipal administration, represented by Mayor Pietro Morittu and councilor Nino Spanu, did not miss the party either.

The mayor commented by highlighting: "His splendid example of vitality, lucidity, strength, energy and hospitality - and recalling how the city of Carbonia is once again confirmed as one of the longest-lived cities in the Sardinia region". Mrs. Maria entertained those present at the celebrations by telling the many anecdotes of her life, full of sacrifices and many satisfactions.
