Carbonia, a large illegal landfill on fire

The operations to extinguish a fire in the northern outskirts of Carbonia are still underway. The flames are affecting a large illegal landfill in the Caput'Acquas area , not far from the old building of the Barbusi FS station, now abandoned for years.

The area is a huge open-air landfill where you can find everything from old car carcasses to Eternit sheets, passing through the remains of refrigerators and other household appliances.

The Carbonia firefighters were on site.
