Carabinieri Colonel Raffaele Cossu is retiring: he is leaving active service after a long and prestigious career of over 38 years, "marked by an incessant dedication to duty and a deep commitment to protecting public safety", as stated in a note. Born in 1964, Colonel Cossu began his career in the force on September 19, 1986, "writing pages of absolute professional and human value".

Throughout his career, the colonel has held roles of great responsibility in strategic operational headquarters, including Trapani, Nuoro, Iglesias and Quartu Sant'Elena. Since 2019, he has led the Information Unit of the Provincial Command of Cagliari "with authority and vision" , "distinguishing himself for his command skills, investigative expertise and constant closeness to citizens. In each assignment, he has been able to embody the highest values of the force, building a relationship of trust and respect with the staff and the community".

With a degree in Political Science and a specialization in International Relations, "Cossu has faced the numerous challenges related to his role with rigor and professionalism. His contribution has left a deep mark not only on operations to combat crime, but also in building institutional relationships that have strengthened the mission of the Arma on the territory."

The Carabinieri "expresses its most sincere gratitude to Colonel Cossu for the exceptional service provided and for the indelible legacy he has passed on to colleagues and collaborators. With his retirement, the Provincial Command of Cagliari loses a reference figure, a legacy of experience and dedication that has already been collected by his son who has undertaken the same path and is now attending the officers' school in Rome".
