Yesterday it was the unsynchronized traffic lights and the workers busy redoing the signs that disrupted the traffic between Piazza Matteotti and Lungomare 11 Settembre (via Roma on the port side), in Cagliari . This morning motorists were trapped in the chaos, with long lines of cars up to via Riva di Ponente - at the entrance to the city - due to the work in progress between piazza Deffenu and the beginning of viale Colombo : interventions on the manhole covers to be level with the road.
It didn't take much to paralyze the road system: the narrowing of the roadway before the roundabout for the Ichnusa pier created major slowdowns and especially during peak hours the inconveniences were enormous.
Local police patrols were also on site to understand if the work was urgent and to be carried out during the day or if it could be postponed . Obviously, with Via Roma side of the arcades closed for months now due to the construction site going on in fits and starts, it is inevitable that traffic in the area will suffer severely in the event of a hitch.
In the morning there were also some slowdowns on the median axis due to a car stopped due to a breakdown. Long queues of cars have thus formed in the direction of Poetto.
Yesterday the biggest problems were registered due to a malfunction of the traffic light system in Piazza Matteotti and the renovation of the signs. And yesterday there were two rear-end collisions on the median axis: several cars were involved and the inconvenience was enormous.
