Santissima Trinità is an outlaw hospital: closing it, at this stage, risks being more than a hypothesis.

The picture of the historic health facility of Is Mirrionis, in Cagliari, was outlined by the general director of ASL 8 Marcello Tidore, in a hearing before the Health Commission of the Regional Council.

According to the information leaked from the meeting, firefighters and other supervisory authorities have recently reported numerous structural irregularities that must be remedied (by force) if the health service is to continue operating.

The estimated cost for the interventions would amount to approximately 16 million euros and the works should be completed in twelve months. A timeframe that, according to what we learn, would be very difficult to respect.

In recent months, numerous inspections have been carried out at Santissima Trinità and heavy fines have also been imposed, also related to the sewage system which is not up to standard: interventions have already been started to address this last problem.

Meanwhile, there is also a political controversy: the centre-right members of the commission have abandoned the work, which was scheduled without respecting the agreements made between the various coalitions.

"They are rushing for no reason to approve a law that is full of holes", accuses Umberto Ticca (Reformers), "a reform that will be overturned by them with the amendments of the Council and whose only real objective is to change the general directors".

Tidore also spoke about the reform conceived by the Todde Council: «From a formal point of view, Legislative Decree 40 deeply legislates administrative acts. Fortunately, it does not provide for the creation of functional departments, which have proven to be a failure everywhere, but I remain perplexed as to whether the ASL of Cagliari can support a reform like this, composed of 15 articles of which only two deal with the organization of health services».
In the introduction, Tidore delivered to the presidency two notes from the general director of the Health department sent to the managers "in which it is requested not to close the budgets while in the report to Legislative Decree 40 it is written that the budgets were not closed due to our responsibility. A communication on which I will make my assessments and decide whether to present them in the appropriate places".

Then Tidore continued: «This bill is defined as urgent but I find nothing urgent among its articles. Instead, I find a clear will to implement the functions of Ares, also with a second regional procurement center that in my opinion the State will hardly accredit. Moreover, a rule like this could be used as a crowbar by multinationals, in terms of appeals on tenders. It almost seems as if the legislator wants to transfer the functions of the department to Ares, thus laying the foundations for the creation of an administrative monster, handed over to a manager who will remain in office for five years, that is, double the average length of time an assessor remains in office. Nothing similar exists in Italy».
On the lack of doctors, the manager from Cagliari underlined: «It is clear that to convince a professional to go to Isili we have to pay him more than his colleague from Cagliari».
