From the port to the city center. After Piazza Yenne on Wednesday and Thursday, this afternoon the tractors of the breeders and farmers who have been manning the Customs pier of the Port of Cagliari since Tuesday to protest against the agricultural policies of the European Union, arrived - escorted by the local police - up to via Alghero and with the sound of horns they attracted the attention of Cagliaritans walking in the centre. No flag and no political colour, just the Four Moors.

Opening the procession was the tractor of Giorgio Ghiani, a cereal and fodder farmer in Guasila, used as a hearse carrying a coffin - a real one - and the obituary "The agricultural sector is dead" .

«It is a protest that involves us all, we understand that perhaps we are creating some inconvenience, but we have been complaining for some time about the difficulties faced by our agricultural companies», explains Roberto Congia, representative of the “Agricultural redemption” committee which together with the Sardinian Shepherds Movement organized the protest in Cagliari. «Until we have answers we will not move from Cagliari, but there will certainly be many more of us in the next few days. Totally abandoning our companies is not possible, but we always take turns."

The tractors of breeders and farmers arriving from Medio Campidano, Sulcis, Trexenta and the Cagliari hinterland will therefore still remain at the port, but on Tuesday, colleagues from other areas of Sardinia could also arrive in the city.

Meanwhile, after the parade in the city's shopping streets, the demonstrators are preparing to spend the fourth night under the gazebos and in the cabins of the vehicles, warming themselves with a small fire that has been lit for days in front of the pier.
