Another construction site that revolutionizes traffic in Cagliari.

The redevelopment works of viale Trieste will start next Monday : starting from the stretch that goes from piazza del Carmine to via Caprera. The road will be closed to traffic and changes to the road system are planned, especially in via Maddalena and via Caprera.

Once the first section is finished, there will be reopening, but the construction site will then continue until the intersection with via Roma. Completion of works expected by the end of the year, but the winning company has until May 2024 , according to the documents of the Department of Traffic.

An intervention that adds to the restyling of via Roma, the promenade of viale Buoncammino and the works for the metro in via Dante and piazza Repubblica.

"Necessary work - explains the city councilor for Urban Mobility and Traffic Alessio Mereu - for the city, but we have guaranteed residents and traders maximum willingness to meet their needs ".

An accessible corridor will be created inside the site to reach homes and private garages and for emergency vehicles. Mereu added, " the possibility of further interventions that can alleviate the inconvenience " is being studied with the owners of the businesses in the area.

"Caps" to road traffic should not be created, the commissioner explains, because the building site can be bypassed by going through via Maddalena and turning right into via Roma . There will instead be changes for public transport: lines 1, 5, 5/11, 9 and for Agricultural and Hotel Institutes . Once the stops at the Chiesa del Carmine and at the crossroads with via 29 Novembre have been suppressed, a temporary one will be set up at number 65 in viale Trieste.
