Cabras - with the Protected Marine Area of the Sinis Peninsula - Mal di Ventre Island - is the first Italian municipality to sign the "Charter of Commitment" , or the Charter of commitments in favor of the conservation of Posidonia in the Mediterranean beaches.

At the top of the priorities set by the Charter, the so-called "zero action", which essentially prohibits the removal of posidonia to leave it where it is, allowing the sea and the wind to naturally manage its rhythms, without any human intervention .

The underwritten commitment also provides ("action one") awareness campaigns on the value of the Posidonia banquettes and meadows aimed at all users of the beach and the school world.

" We are honored to be the first to sign the Charter of commitments for the conservation of Posidonia oceanica, officially becoming a reference for the methodology of protection and enhancement of the natural, chemical, physical characteristics and of marine and coastal biodiversity, also through recovery interventions environmental ”, says the mayor of Cabras Andrea Abis .

"We have always believed it essential to practice a proactive policy in terms of the environment and eco-citizenship - he adds - and today's signature intends to give continuity to this awareness-raising approach".
