«I urge parents of children who unfortunately fall victim to bullying and cyberbullying, not to bury their heads in the sand, but to bring the problem out and give us the opportunity to intervene when it is still possible to do so».

This is the appeal launched by the Police Commissioner of Cagliari Rosanna Lavezzaro to the families of the very young, reminding them of the introduction - with law 71/2017 - of the institution of the warning, also applicable to minors who have turned 14, as an alternative to filing a complaint.

With reference to the institution, the Police Chief observed, in a note, that «the warning for cyber-bullying is an absolutely underused tool, which, if implemented as the law had imagined, could prevent and avoid that some situations degenerate».

"The warning - it is explained - is activated at the request of the minor victim of cyber bullying, assisted by the parents, who asks the Police Commissioner for intervention. It is a tool that must be made known in schools, also through the professionals who deal with this sector and who must be present in all schools".

"Unfortunately, however, we are witnessing the fact that the families of the boys do not ask the Police Commissioner for intervention from this point of view - continues Lavezzaro - partly because they minimize the facts, partly because they fear overexposure of the minor , without realizing that their children may not be the only victims of bullies and with this inertia they prevent us from stopping the certainly reprehensible behaviors that, in some circumstances, we have seen, have also had tragic endings".

Hence the appeal to the parents of the boys to contact the Police Headquarters without hesitation.
