"Medicine at Brotzu, inhumane conditions for patients and staff": the USB complaint.
Union representative Gianfranco Angioni: "Those who care for patients are getting sick. Beds in the corridors: an unsustainable situation."Per restare aggiornato entra nel nostro canale Whatsapp
"The daily situation in the General Medicine and Emergency Medicine departments of Brotzu Hospital has now exceeded all limits of tolerability. We are facing critical conditions: patients forced to wait in the corridors, healthcare staff at the end of their tether, and an organization struggling to guarantee minimum standards of care."
The complaint by Gianfranco Angioni, company manager of USB Sanità and workers' safety representative, is supported by unequivocal images.
"Every day we witness scenes of desperation," the union representative continues. "Patients are treated in the corridors, where care is provided, but with enormous difficulty. Those providing care fall ill, work in extreme conditions, and continue to provide care despite knowing they are exposed to high risks. This situation is no longer acceptable."
Another serious issue concerns patients in the Medicine department: "They are often assigned to support other departments. This forces doctors to take on additional shifts and visits outside of their normal schedule, increasing the risk to patient safety and the health of staff."
In the corridors, obviously, "there is a lack of even the most basic safety equipment: there are no provisions for medical gases, call bells, or bedside tables, and patients are exposed to drafts. All of this further worsens the fragile conditions of the patients."
If the staff does everything to guarantee the service, "it is no longer acceptable to leave the operators alone: concrete resources, organization and support are needed."
