In a city where history, tradition and religiosity have always been intertwined, the celebration of Regnos Altos scheduled for next Saturday and Sunday takes on a very special significance . The celebration dates back to the mid-1800s when a child found a wooden statue of the Madonna in the rubble of the Malaspina castle. It was given the name of “Our Lady of Regnos Altos” and was exposed to the veneration of the Bosans in the church of S. Andrea inside the castle.

It is a popular festival experienced in the alleys of the “Sa Costa” district, where as a sign of devotion small altars decorated with flowers and filet lace, the “Altarittos”, are set up to frame the evocative procession with the saint. And given the enormous importance of the event, the municipal administration also intends to do its part.

"In order to facilitate the preparation of the "Altarittos" - explains Mayor Alfonso Marras - vouchers will be given for the purchase of flowers, which will help make the procession more solemn. Compared to last year when the allocation was 50 euros, we have increased it to 80. The flowers will be used to make about 20 altars more beautiful". Those interested can collect the voucher at the Town Hall until Friday 6 September.

During the two days the festival will have different moments such as the Procession from the Castle to the Cathedral with the blessing of Sos Altarittos of Sa Costa, accompanied by the participants in medieval and traditional costumes of Bosa. Another suggestive moment is the procession from the Cathedral to the Malaspina Castle.

In addition to the flowers and drapes, next to the altars, this year there will also be candles and hundreds of paper lanterns inspired by the ancient flags. They will be handmade and installed in the neighborhood by the " DecoriAMO" Bosa group, a group of volunteers united by their love for their city and the desire to enhance it. The appointment is for Saturday 7 September, starting at 8 pm .

"We are creating - the volunteers point out - a luminous and emotional installation that, integrating with the historic altars, will make the suggestive alleys of Sa Costa shine. We have hand-made hundreds of paper lanterns, inspired by the ancient flags, to bring a touch of sacredness and beauty to the medieval village. We would like these lanterns to be placed on the windowsills or doorways of the houses".
