They tried to reach the port of Cagliari but they ran aground due to bad weather. Emergency around one in the morning for two fishing boats flying the Egyptian flag with nine Tunisians on board who were rescued by the Fire Brigade, the Harbor Master's Office and the police.

The boats had approached the coast to take shelter from the rough sea and thus be able to enter the port but, having passed Capo Sant'Elia, they were pushed by the current and the wind until they ran aground near the beach in front of a well-known restaurant.

The nine sailors, hauled ashore, are all safe and no one has been injured.

The men of the diving team, a nautical team, the 4A ground team of the port city detachment and the water rescue of the headquarters were sent to the place.

Furthermore, the agents of the Flying Squad and the Coast Guard vehicles were also present in Sant'Elia.

Today further investigations will be carried out to understand the dynamics of the accident and, if the marine weather conditions allow it, the fishing boats will be freed from aground to see if they have suffered damage to the hulls.
