Assault on the security van on Statale 130: the bandits flee empty-handed

An attempted robbery against a security van of the Night Security was staged this morning around 8.15 along the Statale 130, at km 30, in the area between Siliqua and Domusnovas.

In the course of the assault, the device to stain the money was activated, and the bandits, who were five or six and were wearing balaclavas, then gave up and fled. Finally they set fire to two cars used to carry out the blitz: they are a station wagon and an SUV used to block the road.

On board the two cars they would have waited for the armored vehicle, which was carrying the money for pensions for the Iglesias area (approximately 1.5 million euros), whose driver noticed the posting and engaged reverse gear to get away. The criminals chased him and fired a dozen shots , probably from a rifle, first on the windshield and then on other areas of the van in which a total of three security guards were traveling. At that point inside the vehicle the system to stain the money was triggered.

The burnt cars were found a kilometer away. Instead, the commando escaped on a third car, the one that followed the van and was damaged.

The hunt for the gang started immediately, police and carabinieri helicopters took off.

Traffic in the direction of Iglesias is blocked.
