«There is a great need for organs and tissues because there are so many patients on the waiting list»; Fabienne Fonnesu, transplant coordinator for the ASL in Gallura, said and remembered it yesterday in Arzachena. “Every citizen should make a decision about this during their lifetime.” The doctor addressed herself above all to young people who she invited to face the issue of donation with their family, "to arrive at a choice from which lives can be saved".

The topic of organ donation was the topic addressed yesterday, 15 April, at the municipal Auditorium where AIDO celebrated forty years of existence with a conference opened by Gerardo De Luca, president of the Olbia section, and coordinated by doctor Franco Pala, president of the Catholic Doctors Association of the Diocese of Tempio-Ampurias, who spoke about the removal of organs, methods and timing, and which saw the intervention of the aforementioned Fabienne Fonnesu, of Hamadi Maala/oui, imam of the Muslim community of Olbia and to Don Santino Cimino, responsible for the healthcare pastoral care of the Diocese of Tempio-Ampurias. The latter two approached the discussion from the point of view of their respective religions, which look favorably on organ donations. And in fact the conference was organized specifically for young people, in particular those from the high schools of Arzachena and Palau (there are speeches from the two school directors) with the aim of raising their awareness of the important and delicate issue.

From the conference came a whole series of messages addressed to the young audience present, a certain quantity of seeds, in the hope that some of them will germinate. Finally speaking with the students, some of whom expressed the desire to become donors, the AIDO president, De Luca, began a speech with them in the hope of being able to open a section of the association in Arzachena and a Palau.
