ARST employees' strike confirmed: another all-day strike on Saturday, July 26th. This is the third strike in a few months. And it could cause disruption to passengers.

The Orsa Tpl union warns: "If concrete responses aren't forthcoming, there will be further protests, possibly on different days in the autumn, with even more significant impacts on public transport and users."

The list of reasons is extensive: "21 official criticality reports submitted to the company," Orsa explains, "which have remained unanswered; the continuing precarious conditions of numerous warehouses and rest areas; the lack of discussion on the second-level supplementary platform to rebalance company structures that have been inactive for over a decade; and meal vouchers. And again, the union continues: unsustainable shifts, especially in part-time contracts; poor communication; railway and metro-tram personnel with stagnant wages and benefits, despite increased responsibilities and job complexity; and the failure to implement an electronic platform for managing shift changes."

"We tried to concentrate the strike action on Saturdays," explains Luigi Melis of the regional secretariat of Orsa Tpl, "even though it wasn't easy due to the strict national regulations governing the right to strike, in an effort to avoid impacting commuter workers and students. But if Arst continues its refusal to engage in dialogue, it's clear the dispute will escalate to a new level, with consequent repercussions on public transport services."
