Six months of imprisonment for resisting a public official and threatening: this is the sentence inflicted by the judge of the Tempio Tribunal, Marchesa Bechere, on the mayor of Palau, Franco Manna.
The sentence accepts the requests of the public prosecutor Gianmarco Vargiu on the events that occurred in the spring of 2020 in Palau, in the midst of the pandemic emergency. According to the reconstruction of the public prosecutor, Manna was outside the Town Hall with his son and took a control service by the Forestry Corps badly.
The forest rangers were responsible for verifying compliance with the regulations that prevented and limited the movement of people (lockdown). The mayor (who has always maintained that he had spent the day traveling around the territory, in his capacity as local health authority) is stopped, stops the car and hands over his identity documents and self-certifications. He expresses surprise at the request for the documents (which he hands over) and explains that he had entered the Town Hall for an errand. The mayor, according to the forest rangers (who are a civil party), threatened them, saying that he would turn to their superiors.
Manna, defended by the lawyer Sebastiano Chironi, has always excluded any intemperance.
