No to drones on ponds. To ask aloud is the Lipu section of Oristano.

The request comes after the members of the association discovered, via a video posted on Instagram, that a drone pilot filmed a group of flamingos present in the S'Ena Arrubia pond, an important resting and feeding site for this species , "relenting" on them, until directing them towards the Tzrugu Trottu pond where there is an electric line on which these birds are often killed.

Lipu reported the matter to the Forestry Corps, to the mayor of Arborea Manuela Pintus and to the regional councilorship for the environment.

"We believe that the pilot has committed the infringement provided for by regional law number 23 of July 29, 1998 which prohibits any direct or indirect act, which determines not only the killing and capture but also the disturbance of all species of protected fauna , also from a disciplinary point of view, included in a list that is an integral part of the law and largely present in the pond of S'Ena Arrubia like the pink flamingo ", Lipu said in a note.

«Since the phenomenon of disturbance with drones has assumed uncontrollable exponential aspects, we have asked the Forestry Corps to implement sanctions and repressive actions in order to contain this harmful phenomenon of disturbance of the avifauna . We also believe that even if the wetlands of the Oristano area are not currently no fly zones, the fact remains that if those areas are rich in biodiversity, a reason in itself sufficient to avoid overflights and disturbance of the avifauna".
