With extensive experience managing complex facilities within the national health system and in-depth clinical expertise , this is the description of the new general director of the Ogliastra Local Health Authority , Dr. Andrea Fabbo , who will arrive in the next few days at the headquarters on Via Piscinas in Lanusei. Fabbo, born in 1964, arrives in Sardinia after holding important roles in the national healthcare landscape: until January 2025, he was director of social and health activities at the Modena Local Health Authority , and from February 2025 until recently, he was health director of the Asti Local Health Authority .
Modena by adoption, it is where he has spent most of his professional career. After completing his specialization in Geriatrics at the University of Parma in 1996 , he began his career as a geriatrician at the Reggio Emilia Local Health Authority . Since 2000, he has held various roles at the Modena Local Health Authority , including that of director of a complex facility. In particular, from 2017 to 2024 , he led the " Cognitive Disorders and Dementia " Unit, a role in which he coordinated the entire territorial geriatric network in the province of Modena. From 2015 to 2025, he managed the dementia project for the Emilia-Romagna Region.
He is currently vice president of the Italian Society of Hospital and Community Geriatrics (SIGOT) and a member of Interdem , a European network of researchers committed to disseminating psychosocial interventions aimed at improving the quality of life of people with dementia. In Asti , as part of its strategic direction, he launched the Communit-action project , a program run by the Piedmont Local Health Authority (ASL) that promotes healthy lifestyles, frailty prevention, and inclusion—the three pillars of a strategy aimed at active longevity by strengthening physical and psychological well-being.
