Diverted to Cagliari and abandoned for a night. The 370 passengers on two Ryanair flights that took off from Bergamo and Frankfurt found only the support of Sogerdyn employees. The destination had to be Alghero. But during the flight the change of program was announced, due to adverse weather conditions (fog on the Coral Riviera) and the planes headed for the Elmas airport.

The wheels touched the Mario Mameli track only after midnight. The disembarkation was orderly, the rest of the evening a little (much) less so. There were numerous families with children and even disabled people.

The Irish carrier, according to testimonies, had promised a trip to Alghero on board a bus. Around 2.30 a new communication arrived: the wheeled vehicles would not be available until early this morning.

The staff at the Cagliari airport, who found themselves dealing with an emergency caused by others, did everything possible to try to give a minimum of comfort to the angry passengers: the Friendly Room was also made available for younger ones and their parents. Bottles of water were distributed and the bars opened their opening hours earlier in the morning.

However, the anger continued to grow as the hours passed. And with the sun already high, the promised buses could not be seen. The police also had to intervene to calm things down. There were numerous calls of protest. Someone decided to continue the journey with alternative means (even taxis). The buses provided by Ryanair appeared at 8.15am.
