The increase in the Alghero Ticket , from 25 to 35 euros for an individual ticket and from 50 to 70 for a family ticket , announced once the tourist season had already begun, is sparking protests among operators and visitors.
Fratelli d'Italia denounced this, expressing strong concern about the decision, which it defines as "unilateral", taken by the Alghero Foundation, led by president Graziano Porcu and the Cacciotto administration, "without any involvement of local stakeholders".
"An ill-timed decision, which risks compromising trust and collaboration between the public and private sectors," says Pino Cardi, city coordinator of FdI. "The Riviera del Corallo Tourist Consortium and the trade associations learned of the new rates only from the newspapers, without being consulted," insists Marco Di Gangi, Tourism Manager for FdI Sardinia , who points out that the Alghero Ticket, established in 2021 during his mandate for tourism, "was created to enhance the city's cultural and naturalistic offerings, in synergy with operators and thanks to the Alghero Experience platform."
FdI emphasizes that trade associations "have never failed to collaborate and be constructive," but governing tourism requires listening, planning, and sharing.
"Raising rates in the middle of the season, with packages already sold, is a strategic mistake," Cardi continues. "We ask that this year's increase be suspended and a discussion table be convened immediately. Tourism is a common good and must be managed methodically and with participation, not with top-down decisions. The credibility of Alghero as a destination is at stake," Cardi and Di Gangi conclude.
