The final stretch of the four-lane highway will open in 2028. Work on completing the Sassari-Alghero-Fertilia Airport highway is progressing according to schedule. This morning, Regional Councilor for Public Works Antonio Piu, along with the Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies' Environment Committee Mauro Rotelli, inspected the state road 291 "della Nurra."
"The work is proceeding as expected," explained Special Commissioner Piu, emphasizing the strategic importance of the project for the connection between Sassari, Alghero, and the Fertilia port.
The €238 million project involves the Alghero-Olmedo section and the link road to the airport. The construction site extends for approximately 10 kilometers and involves 100 workers from four contractors and two dedicated to environmental monitoring.
Average completion has reached 52 percent, with peaks of 90 percent in some projects. Reclamation, foundations, bridges, and viaducts are underway, including those over the Rio Calvia and Rio Sassu. "This infrastructure will connect two airports and two ports, improving safety, travel times, and the economic development of the area," Piu said.
