€700,000 is on the way for the port of Alghero. A resolution proposed by Public Works Councilor Antonio Piu to implement a regional port improvement program will allow the port to receive new pavements, effective lighting, and additional port facilities. "These improvements," the councilor emphasized, "are urgently needed to maintain safety, also based on the findings of the competent Maritime Authority."
But the Sardinian Reformers are wondering what happened to the resources allocated by the previous Regional Council . One and a half million euros approved by the previous legislature on the proposal of the then councilor Aldo Salaris (2023).
These funds were intended for resurfacing the pavements, new lighting, upgrades to the docks, furnishings, and signage. Coincidentally, these are the same projects that Councilor Piu has now rediscovered and re-proposed. So, it seems to us that funding that had already been decided and implemented is being cut by more than half, and this is just propaganda, presenting decisions made in the previous legislature as new ones. Therefore, more than one question becomes legitimate: why did we go from €1.5 million to €700,000? What projects will be cut? Why does the Municipality of Alghero now estimate these projects at €700,000 when just two years ago it was talking about €1.5 million? And, above all, what are the Region's real intentions regarding Alghero's tourist port?
