A young griffon was rescued at sea by the crew of the patrol vessel of the Naval Base of the Forestry Corps of Alghero. The specimen, about 5 months old, was located on the cliff a few centimeters from the water, in the Punta Cristallo area, within the Capo Caccia Marine Protected Area.

Cold, made weak and perched on the sheer rock, he tried to dry his wings, unable to regain the top. The Forestry men patiently observed it for about an hour, keeping the engines off so as not to frighten it, until the griffon, in an attempt to take flight, fell into the sea . With the help of a small dinghy borrowed from tourists, the Forest Service reached the animal and hoisted it on board. Transferred to the patrol boat, the animal appeared lifeless, also due to the salt water swallowed.

Once the wildlife recovery center of Bonassai was alerted, the splendid specimen was landed at Tramariglio and entrusted to the veterinarian Marco Muzzeddu.

The Naval Base of the Forestry of Alghero expresses maximum satisfaction for the success and thanks the private citizens who participated and contributed to the rescue.
