The timetable set the delivery of the new operating rooms at the Businco Oncology Hospital for June 2026. This long-awaited deadline, however, now appears "increasingly distant." This was denounced by Gianfranco Angioni, head of USB Sanità , who described it as " yet another unacceptable delay in the renovation work ," funded by PNRR funds. "Almost ten months after the construction site opened in May 2025, the demolition work is still not completed," Angioni emphasized. "This is a very serious matter that demonstrates inefficient management and fuels further concerns about meeting the scheduled deadlines."

Resolution no. 138, published on February 23, 2026, concerning the subcontracting of plant demolition, "is clear evidence of the accumulated delay. We are faced with an embarrassing situation . Nearly a year after the start of the work, the demolition phase has still not been completed. In the meantime , functioning departments are being dismantled without any clarity on the actual timeframe for their return ."

Angioni also emphasizes the "particularly grave" situation of the Thoracic Surgery ward on the third floor , closed after surgical activities were transferred to San Michele. A modern ward, equipped with rooms with bathrooms and medical gas supplies, it is now abandoned, despite being "perfectly functional and turned into a warehouse." " It's a slap in the face to the citizens ," Angioni attacks. "This isn't reorganization: it's a disaster."

Hence, USB Sanità has requested the "immediate publication of the updated schedule" and "the clear assumption of any responsibilities by the RUP and the Works Management ." They fear that, with the June deadline "now compromised," there is a risk of "further delay," with repercussions on healthcare services and patients.
