To counter the phenomenon of illegal camping, in these days the staff of the Forest Station of Oristano, with the traffic police and the barracelli of San Vero Milis, carried out a joint service in the locality of "Capo Mannu".
The foresters have ascertained the presence of 25 vehicles including campers and vans equipped outside the permitted areas, along the entire promontory in the stretch between the cliff and the two Spanish towers, where there are dunes of particular environmental value.
Numerous administrative reports have been issued for the violation of the regional law concerning tourism. The illegal campers, including 8 foreigners, were also informed about the reasons for protecting coastal areas and marine environments. On the regional territory, in fact, any form of camping is forbidden outside the specially equipped areas; and it constitutes "illegal camping" to use tents, caravans, motor homes or other similar means as one's home. Limitations considered necessary in order not to damage habitats and particularly protected areas, to avoid the abandonment of waste, the transit and parking with vehicles on sand and dunes, the lighting of fires and the illegal removal of sand, pebbles and shells.
