Her name was Natalina Lugas, she was 71 years old, the victim of the road accident that occurred in “Burranca”, on the former state road 125, in the Sinnai area.

She was returning from Burcei with her husband, Salvatore Tolu, who is from the town. The driver of the Peugeot went off the road after a head-on collision with another car—a Golf—traveling toward San Gregorio. Another vehicle was also involved in the pileup. The man driving the French car sustained leg injuries and is hospitalized. The woman died instantly.

The elderly couple, well-known and well-respected, had lived for some time in Quartu, in the “Pirastu” neighborhood.

Burcei also expressed deep condolences. "With deep sorrow," wrote Mayor Marcello Malloru, "the Burcei municipal administration has learned of the tragic accident on the former 125, which has resulted in the loss of a life. The victim is the wife of one of our fellow citizens. In this moment of immense grief, we extend our deepest condolences to the family, relatives, and all her loved ones, and the sympathy of the entire Burcei community."

This latest tragic episode unfortunately confirms the danger of the former State Road 125, a road that has claimed lives and injuries for years. "For this reason," the mayor concluded, "we strongly reiterate the request already made to ANAS to urgently intervene with safety measures: more signage, barriers, lighting, and structural improvements. We can no longer wait for further tragedies. The safety of citizens and those who travel this road every day must be the absolute priority."
