Quartu City Council President Rita Murgioni couldn't have found more fitting words: " We want to preserve the memory of a just man, a good man, who showed us that shouting isn't necessary to clarify things, and he described the city with a firm and human style." And Natale Dessì was just that: he knew every corner of Quartu, and throughout his many years as a journalist, he described the city with his attentive gaze. And even today , residents hold him dear.
For this reason, the administration decided to name a square after him in a green area in Quartello, between Via Norvegia and Via Italia. The plaque was unveiled by his grandchildren, along with the journalist's children, and, in addition to President Murgioni, Mayor Graziano Milia, who recalled: "When I think about Christmas, I still have fun because we had so much fun together. He was truly a wonderful person, whom I loved so much." Also in attendance were Public Works Councilor Antonio Conti and several representatives of the council.
President Murgioni had already submitted a request in 2017 to name the square after Dessì, which has now come to fruition, as she herself explained, "now thanks to our mayor, the municipal council, and the toponymy commission chaired by Luisella Deligios." The journalist's children were moved. "The thing that makes me most happy," said one of them, doctor Giuseppe Dessì, "is that this is recognition of my father's dedication to Quartu. He was proud to be from Quartu."
