Solidarity arrives on horseback for the AOU Sassari Oncology Day Hospital. This year was special because the initiative's creator, Annalisa Sanna, passed away six months ago. She had been an oncology patient since 2017. So, astride Macrusa, her sister Roberta Sanna arrived at the Santissima Annunziata Hospital.

Roberta Sanna, accompanied by Santa Claus and other elves from the Il Monello Equestrian Association , a riding school of which Annalisa was an active member and staunch supporter, delivered the gifts to the hospitalized patients.

Welcoming them were Mario Palermo , extraordinary commissioner of the AOU of Sassari, Alessio Cogoni, director of Medical Oncology, the healthcare workers of the Oncology Day Hospital, together with the volunteers of the Mariangela Pinna Odv association, which has always been committed to supporting cancer patients.

"Annalisa was an example of strength for us and taught us that there is always hope even when life brings you to your knees. For my family and for all those who knew Annalisa," said Roberta Sanna, "it is important to wish a Merry Christmas today to those who, like my sister, are struggling with extreme hardship and pain. Arriving on horseback is the gift we wanted to give to Annalisa and all the "Annalisas" who live in the hearts of so many people. Recreating those emotional moments helps us keep the memory alive and send an important message: you can keep fighting, even through a gesture of love."

"This is the third consecutive year that this event has been held, and this year too, the family has chosen to continue this gesture that speaks of care, closeness, and humanity. Initiatives like this remind us how small gestures can be of enormous value to our patients, especially during a delicate journey like cancer," said Alessio Cogoni, Director of Medical Oncology at Santissima Annunziata Hospital and Deputy Director of the Mariangela Pinna Association.
