The increase in fatal accidents at work (in Sardinia +7 from January to July 2022 compared to the same period in 2021, in contrast with the national figure that marks a decrease) angers the trade unions CGIL, CISL and UIL .

" The data are impressive , they require particular attention and the immediate start of a new phase", underline the regional secretaries Samuele Piddiu, Gavino Carta and Francesca Ticca , recalling how urgent investments and structural policies are, together with a series of actions essential for spreading the culture of safety, greater resources and a significant increase in the workforce of public bodies responsible for prevention and controls.

The latest data released by Inail relating to the period January-July 2022 say that Sardinia, together with Tuscany and Veneto, is the region that has recorded the greatest increases in fatal accidents. In August the last white death on the island , a worker of an external company of the Saras refinery in Sarroch. Thus, the victims have risen to 15 since the beginning of the year.

As regards accidents, on the other hand, at national level there was a + 41.1% with 441 thousand 451 cases reported as of July 31st, a percentage that rises to +54.3 in the Islands. Occupational diseases are also growing everywhere: 36,000 with 163 complaints (+ 6.8%) . For all these reasons, the regional secretariats of CGIL, CISL and UIL strongly claim the commitment and effective collaboration of all the social, entrepreneurial, institutional and political representatives, to arrive at defining all the necessary actions and good practices, starting from prevention and training to the necessary supervisory, monitoring and sanctioning actions.

The trade unions recall the contents of the national unitary platform, in which they ask that the ban on awarding contracts to companies that do not comply with the regulations on health and safety in the workplace be introduced, that the obligation to draw up in all procurement contracts the Single Document for the assessment of interference risks (Duvri), and that, as a sine qua non condition for the disbursement of public funding, compliance with the requirements of legality, application of collective agreements and full guarantee of safeguards is provided on health and safety.

The objective is the signing of a specific regional memorandum of understanding between all the subjects who are involved in various capacities in the health and safety issue. In this direction, in the coming days CGIL, CISL and UIL will take action to involve the associative and institutional representatives in the construction, in a short time, of a table in the Prefecture in Cagliari.
