After the tail comes the head. 12 years after the installation of the “ Anguilla di Marte ” conceived by the local artist Salvatore Garau and installed in front of the Municipality of Santa Giusta, the missing part will now also be positioned. Work began this morning by the municipal administration to build the concrete support base which will then house the enormous work. The head will be positioned precisely behind the town hall, in the large flowerbed close to the large mural dedicated to the fishermen.

«The works - explains the councilor for public works as well as deputy mayor Pierpaolo Erbì - will last about ten days. Then there will be the inauguration of the work». It will be an event for the town: the head is dedicated to the pond of Santa Giusta, once the most full of eels.

The Municipality has entrusted the construction of the base to the Edil Sarda Costruzioni di Marrubiu company, for an amount of just over 30 thousand euros. The head, handcrafted by the craftsman Stefano Piga in his laboratory, weighs several tons, about three. Instead, it is 7 meters high. For the construction of the work, the lagoon Municipality obtained a loan of 35 thousand euros from the Sardinia Foundation. In addition, it has allocated another 15 thousand euros from its budget. The head has an open mouth that bites into two Hellenic heads from the 2nd century BC In reality, however, these are two perfect copies of the young Satyr of Othoca, the archaeological find that had been discovered in the pond during the underwater excavations of 2010.
