Regional councilors Valdo Di Nolfo, Sebastian Cocco, and Giuseppe Frau , members of the "Uniti per Todde" council group, have sent a letter to the board of directors of Geasar—the company that manages Olbia airport—requesting the suspension of direct flights to Tel Aviv. This request is consistent with recent positions taken by the Sardinia Regional Council on the conflict in the Middle East.

"Although we are aware that the Region's shareholding in Geasar does not allow us to legally enforce this type of management decision," the three councilors wrote, "the political and moral duty to make our voices heard remains intact."

The letter explicitly calls for the Olbia-Tel Aviv flight to be stopped , defining the decision as "a necessary act" in response to the actions of the Israeli government, accused by the signatories of "violations of international law" and "war crimes".

The councilors' position is directly related to motion number 51 , approved by the Regional Council on July 15, with which the assembly committed the Sardinia Region to sever all institutional, economic, and cooperative relations with Israel until the "serious human rights violations in the Gaza Strip" cease. The motion was considered by its proponents to be "legally binding" for regional political action.

"A formal condemnation is not enough," the document continues. "We need concrete, immediate action that clearly states where Sardinia stands. Our land has a calling for peace and welcome. It cannot and must not be complicit in an economy of genocide."

The request comes at a time of heightened international tension over the evolving Israeli-Palestinian conflict and is part of a broader debate on economic and institutional relations between Italian local authorities and entities linked to the State of Israel.

The Geasar company, despite having regional public participation, operates under a private regime and has autonomy in defining air routes.
