An artist who has chosen to live and create on the fringes of conventional circuits , transforming his distance from the "center" into an authentic and independent vision. This is the countercurrent musical journey recounted in the new documentary by Sardinian director Roberto Pili : a powerful, intimate, and profoundly musical journey into the life of Richard Di Via, aka DJ Sputo.

Sardinian by adoption —arriving on the island from Trapani in 1998, at just fifteen years old—DJ Sputo has transformed his geographical distance into an artistic choice, his distance from the "center" into a permanent creative laboratory. The film traces his personal and sonic journey, from worn vinyl records to stages, radical experimentation, and unfiltered confessions, painting a portrait of an artist unconventional, capable of transcending generations and languages without ever betraying himself.

The film is directed by Roberto Pili , who, after the award-winning documentaries Profondo Nero and Lucy – A Pioneer's Destiny , guides the viewer with a romantic and penetrating gaze, capable of alternating narrative delicacy and expressive intensity. The production , sensitively handled by Francesco Pili , supports a project that is configured not only as a biographical tale, but also as a universal reflection on perseverance, identity, and the saving power of music.

Through archival materials, performances, and testimonials , a portrait emerges of an artist who turned his passion for hip hop into a path of redemption and identity-building. In a context like Sardinia, where opportunities seem limited, music becomes a tool for affirmation, community, and vision. The presence of illustrious guests from the national hip hop scene enriches the narrative, intertwining the local and national dimensions and conveying the sense of a culture capable of uniting diverse territories under the same beat. National guests include ESA of OTR and Tormento of Sottotono, historic figures who have shaped the evolution of Italian rap. Representing Sardinia will be Riky - Riccardo Giacomini, a representative voice of the contemporary island scene, who contributes to strengthening the dialogue between local identity and national culture.
