The numbers remain record-breaking. Fines for running a red light at the traffic light on Viale Colombo, at the intersection with Via Nenni and Via Bonaria in Quartu, went from 700 per month at the end of 2024 to 600 in 45 days at the start of this new year. For a total of 4,012 fines since July, when the “PhotoRed” was installed, the electronic device that takes a photo when you run a red light.

And while many drivers are even taking alternative routes to avoid getting fined, many others are protesting because, according to them, the yellow-orange light lasts very little and people often get stuck at the intersection due to traffic or pedestrians.

Fines range from 167 euros if the violation is committed during the day to 222 euros after 10 pm with the deduction, in both cases, of six points from the license.
