The official communication from the ASL's extraordinary commissioner is dated October 20. The family doctors who—on an extraordinary basis—were continuing to provide their services despite retirement age were informed of the "immediate revocation of their assignment" due to the arrival of their colleagues who will take their places.

A few days' notice caused chaos yesterday morning at the outpatient clinic on Via Turati. Five general practitioners and two pediatricians, each with over a thousand patients, retired.

Patients were notified late Thursday evening that they would have to change their GP and paediatrician, so they flocked to the appropriate offices to complete the process.

Many found themselves having to fill urgent prescriptions, but the greatest inconvenience was especially for ADI patients who had to resubmit all the documentation .

The procession in front of the dedicated counter began at dawn, even before the doors of the outpatient clinic opened.
